The Tippmann Construction Mechanical Design Lead works closely with potential customers and the Tippmann Construction Preconstruction and Construction teams to make sure refrigeration and mechanical systems are designed to meet standards and client expectations through the following areas.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead Mechanical and refrigeration designs during project engineering
  • Performing thermal load calculations on new projects
  • Provide Refrigeration equipment selection and pricing
  • Design and coordinate refrigeration system layout
  • Hire and manage refrigeration subcontractors during building construction
  • Oversee highly mechanical aspects of projects
  • Staying up to date on building regulations
  • Analyze and interpret historic performance data to increase efficiency
  • Run Solidworks flow simulation tests to ensure accurate results from design

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar
  • Understanding of industrial facility and site design including architectural, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and equipment layout.
  • High levels of proficiencies with AutoCAD or related drafting technology
  • Understanding and experience with 3D Modeling and BIM concepts
  • Proven capability to learn quickly and problem solve in multi-solution and ambiguous situations
  • Strong internal and external communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving decisions among a team of individuals
  • Track record of positive job performance, attention to detail and results-oriented experience
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and require limited supervision
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite of products including MS Excel and MS Project
  • Experience within the Food Processing and Distribution industry preferred

  • Position based at the Tippmann Group Corporate office in Ft. Wayne, Indiana
  • Approximately 50% travel is required (2 – 3 days per week)
